Take an Official State-Approved Boater Safety Course

Recademics.com Launches North Carolina Boater Safety Course
Southlake, TX – Recademics.com, a U.S.-based provider of online recreational safety certification courses, today announced the launch of its North Carolina Boater Safety Course, designed to help boaters meet North Carolina’s boating education requirements and build real-world confidence on the water.
North Carolina requires many operators to complete a NASBLA-approved boating education course. Specifically, anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 must complete a NASBLA-approved boating education course before operating a vessel propelled by a motor of 10 horsepower or greater on public waters.
“From the coast to inland lakes and rivers, North Carolina offers incredible boating—but conditions can change fast,” said Mitch Strobl, Co-Founder of Recademics.com. “Our goal is to make boater education practical and memorable, so people feel confident on the water and help keep North Carolina’s waterways safe for everyone.”
The online course covers essential topics such as boating safety fundamentals, navigation rules, safe vessel operation, required equipment, emergency procedures, and environmental stewardship—delivered through interactive lessons, quizzes, and real-world scenarios available 24/7 on desktop or mobile.
Safety reminders for North Carolina waters
Boating safety starts with the basics—and wearing a life jacket is one of the simplest ways to reduce risk. North Carolina law requires children younger than 13 to wear an appropriate life vest on a recreational vessel that is underway. Anyone riding a personal watercraft (PWC) or being towed (tubing, waterskiing, etc.) must also wear an appropriate life vest.
North Carolina also has specific rules around PWCs, including education requirements for certain operators.
“The best life jacket is the one you’re wearing,” Strobl added. “When an emergency happens, you may not have time to reach for one—so I encourage everyone on the water to wear a life jacket anytime they’re underway.”
Upon successful completion, students receive proof of boating safety education from the course provider. North Carolina notes that online course websites are not administered by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, and boaters are responsible for maintaining documentation of course completion when they train through an external provider.
